Dominic grew up in New Brunswick. He completed a Glider Pilot License and a Private Pilot License in Eastern Canada with the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program.
He attended the University of Alberta, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
Dominic began his career working largely on mass and energy balances in the hydrometallurgical processing industry. Early in his career, he facilitated discussions and progress on a memorandum of understanding for a 30-year rail service agreement in Madagascar.
Dominic subsequently joined the oil and gas industry for over three years as a natural gas field and plant technician where he conducted field operations activities for natural gas pipelines, field compressors, and natural gas processing facilities.
Dominic then joined the pulp and paper industry in a Kraft mill as a process engineer. Over the years, he advanced to Bleaching Area Operations Leader, Fibreline and Finished Products Area Manufacturing Excellence Leader, and eventually Manager of the Manufacturing Excellence Department. During his time at the pulp mill, he achieved a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
He enjoys learning new process systems which he can normally size-up fairly quickly and advance to value-add discussions and contributions. He enjoys contributing at all levels of the organization and no challenge goes unnoticed and without constructive thoughts and progress towards finding workable solutions. He looks forward to meeting and assisting new clients across their processing facilities.
Dominic has experience attracting talent in a smaller center and recruiting many engineering summer students, new-grad interns, new-grad permanent hires, and professionals for many engineering disciplines.
Dominic enjoys mentoring and coaching young professionals within the framework of regulated practice and in a broader capacity working towards retention of talent in all disciplines.
Dominic continues to fly as a hobby. He is always on the lookout for new fly-in destinations with short airstrips in the mountains, in the forest, or in the Arctic for another fly-in camping adventure. He is particularly keen on integrating flying with customer site visits where the business case makes sense - serving more remote locations not otherwise serviced by regular air transportation.
